Afro Gala

Afro Gala is an annual event aimed at showcasing and promoting the Black/African cultural heritage and fostering intercultural and racial relationships in British Columbia.

We also use the opportunity to recognise and honour people who have contributed to the development of the Black community as part of our celebration of Black History Month. It recognizes and celebrates individuals who serve, volunteer and support development in Black communities.

The prestigious annual celebration of culture features a red carpet, fashion, inspiring speeches, music, cultural displays & performances, food, awards, and dance. It draws a diverse audience from across Canada and the United States.

The annual event is also supported and attended by Municipal, Provincial and Federal levels government representatives as well as Indigenous Elders in our community.

Afro Gala received a recognition in the Canadian House of Commons and by the Prime Minister of Canada in 2018.
